Garden of Beadin’ Class Policies
Hello Fellow Beaders! After 1 ½ years of offering beading classes, we’ve decided it’s time to publish some ground rules in the interest of being fair to everyone, and in an effort to keep class fees as affordable as possible. These parameters are not meant in any way to deter from our goal of always being as flexible and accommodating as possible. (And having FUN!) Please take note of the policies that will take affect April 1st, 2008. Please contact us with any other suggestions or questions. Thank you.
- All participants must sign up in advance and provide a phone number where they can be reached if necessary. We are typically unable to accommodate walk-ins the day of class.
- Payment for a class is what completes your registration & secures a space in class. We will gladly add you as a tentative participant, but will continue filling the class with paid registrants. Moral to the story, keep in close touch with us so we know what you’re doing! Anyone “tentative” must commit within 1 week before the class date for store & instructor preparation.
- Payment can be made in person by cash, check, credit card, or store credit. Payments may also be taken over the phone by credit card. Checks will be accepted by mail, but you must call to confirm receipt.
- Class supply lists will be provided for paid participants. Supplies do not have to be purchased from our store. We invite you to bring in and use up what you have. If you are purchasing supplies, we ask that you do so before the class start time.
- Classes will start at their scheduled time, typically 1 PM. You’re welcome to come early to get your self “situated” to insure you don’t miss the class introduction and start. If you are late, the instructor will do her best to catch you up, but not at the expense of the remainder of the class.
- Classes will also need to end at their scheduled time, typically 3 PM. Many projects can not be finished in 2 hours. If your project is not finished by the end of class, the instructor will make sure you will leave with adequate instruction for finishing on your own.
- We supply some natural task lighting for students to share. If you would like to bring additional lighting for yourself we’re happy to plug you in. We have 2 long extension cords but it wouldn’t hurt to bring one with your lamp to ensure you are adequately “enlightened!” The same goes for magnification. Often we work with very small seed beads and we certainly understand the need for enhancing vision! We have a variety of “cheaters” in different strengths and one Optivisor magnifier, but it helps to bring your own glasses in the proper strength and fit or whatever form of magnification you prefer.
- We encourage you to bring your own tools as we often find students are most efficient with the tools they are already comfortable with. If you do so, please mark your tools in some way so they aren’t inadvertently exchanged with someone else’s. We do however have quite a few tools in the classroom for students to share if they don’t have their tools with them.
- Registration fees will always be refunded in their entirety if the store cancels a class. Classes may be cancelled if enrollment does not reach the minimum required by the instructor or in the case of extremely inclement weather. The store will call participants if a class is cancelled.
- And finally, in keeping with standard industry practices, class fees are non-refundable unless, as previously noted, the class is cancelled by the store. This is a tough one for us, but for so many good business reasons, we have to enforce it.
We appreciate your continued interest in learning projects and sharing time with fellow beaders. We look forward to seeing you all in the classroom soon.
